As a teacher, I am committed to providing excellence and equality in education. All students are entitled to a rigorous, differentiated, relevant and engaging learning program that addresses their individual needs. I establish a positive classroom culture, in which students are happy, safe, feel valued and are excited and motivated to learn. I understand that all students have their own unique learning abilities, backgrounds and preferred learning styles. I put great emphasis in building strong rapport and positive, authentic relationships with my students and their parents. I establish a set of classroom expectations in consultation with my students that align with the school values and policies. I teach emotional literacy and values education. I have high expectations for behaviour and use positive behaviour reinforcement to encourage positive expected behaviour. This enables my students to develop in their ability to treat others with respect as well as become responsible and resilient learners. Lessons I teach result in students developing their metacognitive ability, critical and higher order thinking skills. I encourage my students to pose questions, research answers and think critically about the world in which they live. This leads to my students becoming active, stimulated and engaged lifelong learners. I am passionate about using 21st Century Technology to make learning more engaging for my students. In addition to this, I provide my students with authentic and hands on learning experiences. Being a reflective practitioner enables me to critically think about my lessons and continually improve lesson delivery. I constantly evaluate the impact of learning by referring to multiple forms of assessment data including both formative and summative assessments. The assessment I conduct in my classroom is meaningful and relevant. Constant monitoring of student progress, work samples and feedback from students enables me to make informed and consistent judgements to improve student learning. The assessment I conduct enables me to work collaboratively with my students to develop personalised learning goals, which leads to students being active participants in the learning process. I enjoy working collaboratively with other staff members to meet school and community expectations. In addition, I have a passion for organising and assisting with extracurricular activities and school events. I am committed to being a positive and inspirational role model in my students’ lives. I strive to inspire and motivate all of the students I teach, to develop their love of learning, curiosity and explore their own passions and interests.

Above are a few notes I've received from my students and their families. My students families regularly thank me in person and via email for the huge improvement they've seen in their child's learning progress as well as who their child is as a person.
