As an educator, I establish positive working relationships with my colleagues and warm, respectful relationships with the children in my classes, their parents and the broader school community. I make a point of getting to know the children and their parents by talking to them, building rapport and being approachable.

I use my outstanding interpersonal skills to foster excellent and authentic relationships with the students in my class. I show interest in my students lives and this has allowed me to incorporate their interests into the learning activities designed for them, creating a more relevant and engaging learning experience.

I establish a strong rapport with my students’ families at the start of the year by being approachable and regularly communicating with families. I enjoy discussing positive achievements my students’ have made with their parents. Throughout the school year, I regularly communicate to my students’ families by inviting them into their child’s classroom on special days, encouraging parents to help in the classroom and on excursions and by making time to meet with my students’ families.
I have a passion for organising and assisting with extracurricular activities. Being actively involved in extracurricular activities enables me to build relationships with students from other classes, the parent community as well as the broader school community. Last year, I was the Scholastic Book Club organiser. Throughout my teaching career I have also been involved in assisting with school fundraisers, school fates, dress up days and school productions. At university I majored in art and I have used my skills to assist with school productions. As a teacher at Parkwood Green Primary School, I assisted with the Early Bird Reader's club which involved running a reading club for students who needed more support with their reading. In addition, I have shared my knowledge and skills with other educators by training teacher aides and work experience students that I've warmly welcomed into my classroom.

Collaborating with Colleagues
I understand the importance of collaboration and enjoy working closely alongside my colleagues. Collaborating with other teachers enables me to develop the programs I am delivering, enables additional learning experiences to occur and guides my assessment. Working closely alongside my colleagues has a positive impact on student achievement. I regularly share resources with my colleagues, plan with colleagues and welcome my colleagues to come and observe my classroom in action!
I understand that children won't learn as effectively from teachers they don't like. I ensure that the relationships I build with my students are positive, caring and respectful. This has led to fantastic learning growth!
