In addition to my passion for Literacy, Numeracy, and ICT, I am deeply committed to fostering a love for Science among my students.
I prioritise providing students with hands-on, meaningful, and engaging learning experiences that follow the Scientific Method. These include developing hypotheses, making predictions, conducting investigations, analysing data, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. My goal is to create memorable learning opportunities that deepen students’ understanding and curiosity.
For example, while teaching a Year 2 lesson sequence on lifecycles at Gaayip-Yagila Primary School, I brought a chrysalis into the classroom. Watching my students’ fascination as a butterfly emerged was a highlight of the unit. We also grew bean plants, allowing students to observe the transformation from seed to plant, reinforcing their understanding of biological processes.
As an experienced educator, I have successfully organised and facilitated large-scale science events, such as a Year 2 Science Day focused on light and sound. This event included hands-on experiments and an incursion, enabling students to consolidate their understanding of scientific concepts. The day received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, colleagues, school leadership, and parents, who praised its engaging and enriching nature.

In my role as a Science specialist, I collaborated with colleagues to design a dynamic and curriculum-aligned Science program for Foundation to Year 6. This included the integration of STEM-based projects, where students work collaboratively to solve real-world problems. Witnessing students develop a passion for Science through these initiatives was incredibly rewarding. Additionally, I planned incursions and excursions to further develop students' love of Science and deepen their understanding of the topics covered.
